چکیده

Abstract Using COSMIC-2 and METOP radio occultation measurements during the years 2020 2021, study presents first direct independent relationship between potential energy (E p ) in stratosphere, precipitable water vapour (PWV), tropopause heights (TPH), cold-point (CPH) over South America. The American continent comprises tropical region, Andes Mountain range, mid-latitude climates. seasonal mean of ), PWV, parameters height (TPH CPH) were obtained to investigate stratospheric gravity wave (SGW) E tropospheric (PWV, TPH, CPH). Cosmic Gps Radio Occultation: Neural Networks for Tropospheric Profiling over the Intertropical Ocean Area

Global Positioning System (GPS) radio-occultation (RO) is provided as a global sounding technique for obtaining atmospheric profiles by integrating them in global models for numerical weather prediction and for climate change studies. The radio occultation system employs GPS receivers placed on a Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite to sound the Earth’s troposphere and ionosphere evaluating the addi...

Estimation of tropospheric profiles using COSMIC GPS radio occultation data with neural networks

In this work we have proposed a method based on neural networks to directly retrieve dry and wet refractivity and dry pressure profiles in troposphere (which in turn can be used to obtain temperature and humidity profiles) by using COSMIC GPS radio occultation (RO) data. To overcome the constraint of an independent knowledge of one atmospheric parameter at each GPS occultation, we trained diffe...

Analysis of Gravity Waves from Radio Occultation Measurements

In the height range 10-30 km atmospheric gravity waves lead to periodic perturbations of the background temperature field in the order of 2-3 K, which can be resolved in temperature profiles derived from radio occultation measurements. Due to the spherical symmetry assumption in the retrieval algorithm and the low horizontal resolution of the measurement weakening in the amplitude and phase shi...

Potential Impact of COSMIC GPS Radio Occultation Data on Regional

A major challenge for operational numerical weather prediction over the Antarctic and Southern Ocean is the lack of traditional meteorological observations. This increases uncertainty in the model initial condition and results in inferior forecast skills as compared with numerical weather prediction in mid-latitudes over the Northern Hemisphere. With the lack of traditional observations over th...

Analysis of vertical wave number spectrum of atmospheric gravity waves in the stratosphere using COSMIC GPS radio occultation data

GPS radio occultation (RO) is characterized by high accuracy and excellent height resolution, which has great advantages in analyzing atmospheric structures including small-scale vertical fluctuations. The vertical resolution of the geometrical optics (GO) method in the stratosphere is about 1.5 km due to Fresnel radius limitations, but full spectrum inversion (FSI) can provide superior resolut...
